Adoration

On their journey Jesus entered a village where a woman named Martha welcomed him to her home. She had a sister named Mary, who seated herself at the Lord's feet and listened to his words. Martha, who was busy with all the details of hospitality, came to him and said, " Lord, are you not concerned that my sister has left me to do the household tasks all alone? Tell her to help me" The Lord in reply said to her: Martha, Martha, you are anxious and upset about many things; one thing only is required. Mary has chosen the better portion and she shall not be deprived of it." (Luke 10:38-42)

Following the weekday noon Mass until 4 PM Holy Rosary is open for Eucharistic Adoration. Take time from the noise of your life to spend a quiet hour in front of the Blessed Sacrament; “be still”, and know that He is God. To sign up for a regular Holy Hour or to volunteer as a substitute, please contact office@holyrosarypdx.org.

Altar Servers

Altar Servers are men ages 10 and up trained to assist the friars from the reverent and simple weekday Masses to the complexity of the solemn sung Latin Dominican Rite Masses at 11 AM on Sundays and Feast Days. If you are interested, please contact office@holyrosarypdx.org.

Altar Society

The Altar Society’s work is quiet and behind the scenes, overseeing the reverent care of the altar and maintaining the plants and flower arrangements in the church.  If you are willing to serve Our Lord and your parish by volunteering time to help occasionally launder linens and/or vestments, make flower arrangements, or help with church cleaning, please contact office@holyrosarypdx.org.

Boy Scouts & Cub Scouts

Holy Rosary's Boy Scout troop/pack is a traditional Scouting group comprised of approximately 30 active boys, and their dads. Most boys are home-schooled and Catholic. Boy Scouts (ages 11-17) meet on most Wednesdays of the school year at 7P in Siena Hall at Holy Rosary. Younger Cub Scouts (ages 6-10) meet on most of the 2nd and 4th Wednesdays of the months of the school year. In addition to meetings, there are monthly outdoor activities that involve hiking/camping/canoeing/etc. for the older boys (and fewer events for the younger Cub Scouts). All Scouts can also earn Catholic Scout religious emblems. These are typically presented at an annual Scout Sunday Mass in February by Archbishop Sample, Bishop Smith, or Archbishop Emeritus Vlazny.

CCD Teachers & Helpers

Our CCD teachers and helpers are entrusted with the care and education of the parish youth. They help them to learn how to know, love, and serve God in this world so they can be happy with him in Heaven! Confirmed parishioners interested in volunteering may contact office@holyrosarypdx.org.

Dominican Laity - Holy Family Chapter

The Holy Family Chapter of the Dominican Laity was formed by families coming together to form a religious community under the principles of Dominican life and spirituality. Although profession is made individually, members consider the chapter a "family of families."  Those wondering if this chapter of the Laity might be a vocation for them are encouraged to contact office@holyrosarypdx.org.

Dominican Laity - Holy Rosary Chapter

The Dominican Laity are Catholics, married and single, who feel called to enter more deeply into their faith by participating in the charism of St. Dominic and the Dominican order according to their state in life. The pillars of Dominican life are prayer, study, preaching, and community. The Holy Rosary Chapter is one of many chapters throughout the world and part of the Western Dominican Province of the United States. We meet monthly as a chapter on the fourth Sunday of the month for Mass, the Divine Office, Rosary, fellowship, study, and any business we need to discuss. In between we live lives of prayer, study, and sharing the faith according to the Dominican Laity Rule and our state of life. We also have several apostolates during the year and hold an annual retreat. For more information about us, visit our chapter website: oplhrpdx.org.

Members & Friends of the Ordinariate in Portland

We are working on building an Ordinariate community in the greater Portland area with hopes of eventually forming an Ordinariate parish. We would love your support! Ten Years Ago, Pope Benedict XVI created the Ordinariate in response to Anglicans around the world “repeatedly and insistently” petitioning to enter into full communion with the Roman Catholic Church. The Pope's act opened a way for Christians, both whole parishes and individuals, to become fully Roman Catholic while maintaining elements of their liturgical and spiritual heritage. Please email us at ordinariatepdx@gmail.com or visit us on the web at ordinariatepdx.com.

Nocturnal Adoration

Join Nocturnal Adoration Society members on third Saturdays, 7-8:30 PM from all over the Portland metro area in this time of prayer before Jesus in the Blessed Sacrament, beginning with the Rosary at 7:00 PM, then antiphonal prayer and readings until about 8:30 PM.

Our Lady of the Most Holy Rosary Homeschool Ministry

Our Lady of the Most Holy Rosary (OLMHR) Homeschool Ministry seeks to support all Catholic parents who want to educate their children at home. Our hope is that no Catholic homeschoolers in our area feel alone in their endeavor or ignore the call in their hearts to homeschool because they don't know where to begin. We have a wonderful community of homeschooling families; many veteran homeschoolers, many just beginning to consider homeschooling, and everything in between. We build community, enjoy fellowship, and share support and prayers. We lean on Him, the One who has entrusted us with His children, and who continues to hold us all in His loving hands. We host monthly events for the kids (Builder's Expo, All Saints Day Party, Art/History/Science Fair, etc), monthly support meetings for parents to discuss homeschooling topics, and a variety of other social and enrichment opportunities for homeschool families to enjoy. We look forward to getting to know you and are excited to share the call to educate our children together with you. Please contact homeschool@holyrosarypdx.org to learn more.

Pastoral Council

The pastoral council is a consultative body that serves to advise the pastor. The council's main purpose is to investigate, reflect and reach conclusions about pastoral matters. This may include "missionary, catechetical and apostolic undertakings within the parish, concerning the promotion of doctrinal formation and the sacramental life of the faithful; concerning pastoral activities to help the priests in the various social and territorial areas of the diocese; concerning public opinion on matters pertaining to the Church as it is more likely to be fostered in the present time.” Questions? pastoralcouncil@holyrosarypdx.org

Property Steering Committee

A collaboration between the Church, the Priory, the Rosary Center and the Western Dominican Province to ensure the collective facilities and real estate align with all four institutions’ mission strategy, operational needs, and financial objectives – while providing an appropriate degree of future flexibility.

RCIA

The Rite of Christian Initiation for Adults (RCIA) is the Church's process for shepherding people who are not Catholic, or individuals who are already Baptized Catholics, into full communion with the Church. Individuals go through several stages of study, prayer, and liturgical rites that draw them closer to the life of the Church. Holy Rosary's RCIA team is always looking for people interested in being sponsors or people who may be interested in helping with teaching and organizing the program. Contact office@holyrosarypdx.org.

Readers

When the Sacred Scriptures are read in the Church, God himself speaks to his people. The readings from the Word of God are to be listened to reverently by everyone, for they are an element of the greatest importance in the Liturgy. (USCCB, The Lector at Mass) The reader is instituted to proclaim the word in a loud clear voice so that by hearing, the faithful may conceive in their hearts a sweet and living affection for Sacred Scripture. The reader ministry requires service with courage, humility and charity so the faithful will develop a fuller understanding of the word fostered by a living commentary. Confirmed men of the parish interested in becoming readers may contact office@holyrosarypdx.org.

Rosary Center

The Rosary Center is located on the southwest corner of 3rd and Clackamas, and is part of the Confraternity of the Most Holy Rosary, a worldwide prayer movement entrusted to the Dominican Order by the Holy See over 500 years ago. Intentions of Confraternity members are united with hundreds of thousands around the world. For more information and to enroll, visit rosarycenter.org or call 503-236-8393.

We provide help to parishioners and our parish neighbors with emergency food, rent, and utilities assistance.

Ushers

The Holy Mass forms the backbone of parish life at Holy Rosary. Ushers help provide a welcoming, safe and prayerful environment at every Mass. Not only do they assist with seating, take up collections and help ensure orderly flow at the Communion rail, but ushers are the first contact many visitors will have with the people of Holy Rosary. Confirmed men of the parish interested in becoming ushers are encouraged to contact office@holyrosarypdx.org.

Young Adult Group

A group striving to be saints now, embodying a Dominican spirituality of prayer, community, study, and evangelization through our everyday lives. We gather at coffee and donuts after the 11 am mass to discuss various theology/philosophy topics. There's swing dancing on 3rd Sundays. People freely organize various outings for the group, ranging from hikes, karaoke, house parties, and movie nights. Our patron saint is Blessed Bartolo Longo T.O.S.D., K.H.S. Feel free to reach out to the parish office for access to the group chat.
