First Holy Communion

Reconciliation and First Holy Communion are normally given after a child has reached the “Age of Reason”, generally at about seven or eight years of age.

Parish children are prepared during our Wednesday afternoon religious education program, with reception of both Sacraments in the spring. Parents should be prepared to provide the following to the church office with a copy of the student’s baptismal certificate.

If your child would like to receive First Holy Communion at Holy Rosary, but are not able to attend Wednesday afternoon religious education classes, please contact our CCD Coordinator. If your child is a registered parishioner elsewhere, please provide a letter from your pastor granting permission to receive First Communion at Holy Rosary.

Parents of older children, or of children with special needs, are encouraged to contact the Director of Education so that arrangements can be made for your child to receive First Holy Communion.
