The Dominican Laity - Holy Rosary Chapter

The Holy Rosary Dominican Laity are lay people who have been called to the Dominican charism. In existence at Holy Rosary for over a century, our chapter is part of the Dominican Family of Friars, Brothers, Nuns, Sisters and Laity. This is a vocation and a calling that lasts a lifetime. We focus on prayer, study, community and preaching (according to our status as laity.) Important to us is the Celebration of the Eucharist (daily if possible); the Liturgy of the Hours (morning, evening and night prayer); a daily rosary and special devotion to the Virgin Mary, according to the tradition of the Order, to our Holy Father Dominic, and to Saint Catherine of Siena, the Patroness of Lay Dominicans.

Our chapter meets monthly, usually on the 4th Sunday, where we gather at 8:30am for the recitation of the Rosary before Mass. After celebrating the Mass together, we meet in Siena Hall for some social time; morning prayer and on-going formation, and then a business meeting. Our inquirers share this time with us, and then have their own formation and study separately.

Those wondering if the Dominican Laity might be a vocation for them are encouraged to call Mary Halvorson, OPL, Prioress, at 503-572-5728.

The Dominican Laity - Holy Family Chapter

The Holy Family Chapter of the Dominican Laity was formed by families coming together to form a religious community under the principles of Dominican life and spirituality. Although profession is made individually, members consider the chapter a "family of families." Generally, membership is considered on a family-by-family basis, but we are also open to individual members in the single state of life who have demonstrated a sincere dedication to the support and promotion of our apostolate. Our focus is three-fold: to seek better understanding of the Catholic, and especially Dominican, principles on which family life is based; to apply those principles within our own families; and to extend those principles to the wider community.
