Classes for Confirmation are offered for High School freshmen (sophomores and juniors are welcome to attend, as well) as part of our Monday afternoon CCD program; students must have completed the eighth grade to register. Our text is The Catechism of the Catholic Church; students are asked to provide their own copies.

The course is taught by Janine Applegate, Director of Education. It is highly recommended that students have attended the parish CCD program during junior high, although it is not a prerequisite. Students should have no more than two absences a semester; submit homework when assigned, which is generally twice a month; complete two brief essays; take a benchmark test and pass the final exam; complete Caritas Credits (“service hours”); participate in the retreat; and attend the Sponsor/Candidate dinner. The Rite of Confirmation is administered in September of the academic year following instruction.

Classes designed for the Rite of Christian Initiation for Adults (RCIA) are an excellent resource for adult Catholics interested in Confirmation. These evening sessions are taught by our pastor, Fr. Anthony Patalano. Meetings can also be set up with the parish Director of Education to discuss issues that may arise during R.C.I.A.
