Holy Rosary church is located in a commercial urban renewal section of northeast Portland, between the new Rose Garden sports complex and the Lloyd Center mall, a few blocks north of the new Portland Convention Center. Across the Willamette River from downtown, this new sector of the city could be called "uptown." Very convenient to the church are many hotels and motels. There is ample parking in the parish's three parking lots. The church is also conveniently served by the Tri-Met bus system and the Max light rail. Holy Rosary Priory was founded in 1894 by the Western Dominican Province of the Most Holy Name of Jesus, part of the worldwide Dominican Order, at the request of Archbishop Gross of Portland, Oregon, for the purpose of spreading devotion to the Mother of God, particularly through the propagation of her Rosary.
